Glomation embedded computer and CPU modules use ARM based SoC. The basic requirements to cross built Linux kernel and file systems for ARM processors is running a recent release of Debian, Fedora or Ubuntu. All these major distribution has ARM cross compiler available as installable package. A virtual machine can also be used in place of a physical Linux desktop system.

The ARM cross development tool chain can be installed using system software manager or manually at command line. The commonly available packages are gcc-arm-linux-gnueabi, gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf. The following command can be used to install ARM GCC cross compiler,

  sudo apt-get install gcc-arm-linux-gnueabi
